A Touch Of “Lake Effect” Snow…In Oklahoma

This was and unusual, but not unheard of, event that happened in early January. In spite of being land locked with only “man-made” lakes around, this kind of event can happen on a small scale.

DISCUSSION…
“LAKE EFFECT” SNOW EVENT CONTINUES OVER NE OKLAHOMA AND NW
ARKANSAS THIS MORNING WITH NEARLY CONTINUOUS FLURRIES UNDER
STRATUS DECK…WITH LOCAL ENHANCEMENT DOWNWIND FROM SOME OF THE
LARGER RESERVOIRS. THERE HAS EVEN BEEN A VERY LOCALIZED BAND SOUTH
OF LAKE EUFAULA CAUSING -SN AT KMLC IN THE PAST HOUR. THERE HAS
BEEN SOME VERY LIGHT ACCUMULATION REPORTED WITHIN MORE PERSISTENT
BANDS BUT NO TRAVEL ISSUES NOTED.
